List post:

1. I've become a solitary person... more than a couple of days in someone else's company at all times really wears on me.
2. We had a nice time with Ben's parents. I think they had a good visit.
3. I've been feeling kind of looked down on for being Catholic lately. Probably more in my own thoughts than in anyone else's, but still. I get frustrated by people holding onto their stereotypes and prejudices about Catholics. I guess everyone feels this way about something at some time in their lives.
4. The Sonoran Desert Museum is tiring. The desert in general kind of wears me out.
5. I finished the sun hat. I turned out pretty cute. Pictures later.
6. Ugly is ugly. And most Pucci prints are ugly. Oh yeah, I said it.
7. Today is Ben's birthday. He's getting pie instead of cake. I just thought a cake would be too much for the two of us, and lent is starting, so there's no use having a lot of extra dessert hanging around. I have to go find him a present this afternoon.
8. Nothing much really... just planning a normal day with normal stuff. I have to go to the bank and figure out what to get Ben for his birthday, but other than those things, I'll probably work on another sun hat, this one for me or my mom, depending what color thread I get. This time I'm going to work out some kinks and write the pattern down. I don't know if it will be free or for sale... depends how much work it is to write down, lol.

Tomorrow is the day...

...that my in laws arrive.

I'm looking forward to them visiting, it's so good to have visitors! But I feel like I've been cleaning like crazy all week. It's really weird too, because I feel like I keep the house pretty clean at all times, but then, when I start looking at it from "company" point of view, there's all sorts of stuff I feel like I should take care of. I should look at the house from that point of view all the time.

We have a crazy busy weekend planned. They'll only be here for two days, so we're trying to pack a lot into just that time. We're going to the Sonoran Desert Museum in Tucson, and the Japanese Festival, and we're eating at the Melting Pot, and we're going to let them pick what they might like to do tomorrow afternoon. I hope they pick going to the Fiber Factory and the antique mall in Mesa. Maybe I'll try looking really hopeful at them when we mention that.

The putting green is in. I did take pictures, but they didn't turn out very well, so I'll have to try again a different time. I'll post when I get some good ones. It looks really awesome. Unfortunately, it puts the "undone" part of the yard to shame. I swear, I'm the worst homeowner in the desert. Our yard is such a mess. But it's half better now, and maybe Ben and I will get to the other half at some point soon.

Ben's birthday is Tuesday. I have no idea what to get him. He sucks because he never wants anything, so he's hard to buy for. Suggestions?

I've been working away at the sun hat. I think I've got it handled and might be able to finish it tonight. As long as my tivo'd gilmore girl episodes hold out.

Huzzah.

Ben and I went to the Renn Fest yesterday. That was a fun time. We decided to go yesterday because it was half off day, so that was cool, because what was worth twenty dollars, I just can't see being worth forty. The joust was pretty good and they put on a good show, so it was worth the twenty it cost to get in. And we got a cute little pewter cat to add to our odd collection of random little pewter things that we buy at random weird places. I'm still looking for some sort of way to display those. And we did this neat thing where you rub paper with a piece of crayon type stuff over a brass plate to make the design show on the paper. Like those things with the plastic interchangable plates from when I was a kid. But big. And medieval-y. I'll have to take some pictures of them once we get them into frames. I did a unicorn... yes, i have odd medieval unicorn art in our room. Yes, I know that I should just go off and join a gamers' guild.

Today I planted a ton of flowers and things in the empty planters around the yard. Why were they empty? Because I have the black thumb, and all photosynthisizing things hate me. Why did I plant more? Because I'm a fool with eternally springing hope. And my in laws are coming this week so the putting green is going in tomorrow and I figured I should try to get the yard looking kind of nice before they get here. So, petunias. I mean, petunias are what they use on public lands where people walk and throw trash. I should be able to keep them alive for a week at least. Right? I really really wish I could grow things. I keep trying thinking that I'll be able to do it, and then slowly and pathetically, they die. The whole time, I'm trying to figure out where I went wrong... oh where did I go wrong? I sound like a mom. Maybe I should try guilting them into living.

Our putting green is going in tomorrow. Just between you and me (and by "you" I mean all of the people who read my blog ever, lol), this whole thing is starting to bug me a little. I mean, it's quite expensive and they keep calling and asking me questions that should go to Ben, etc. But it's his yearly bonus, and this is what he picked out to get. And after tomorrow, it'll be all finished up, and I won't have to worry about it again. And I'll then develop a mean game of putt putt. Oh yeah, I'll take you all on in mini-golf!

Ahh... Disneyland... my true love....

I just don't know what it is about Disneyland that I love so much. I actually get choked up when I walk down Main Street and see Sleeping Beauty's Castle. (Why does no one ever call her by her real name, Aurora?) It's so corny and sappy, but I just buy right into it every single time.

We went on Thursday, and it was so much fun. Ben had a business meeting in Orange County, and the team activity was Disney. And I love it so much that his boss invites me along on these things. We just got back this evening and the cats are still well and the house is still here, so everything is pretty great in Beppyland right now.

Other things that have been going on right now... I was trying to do a tank top for the crochet olympics, but I ran out of the yarn I was using, and didn't work on anything the whole time I was gone to CA, so that just didn't work out. I'll have to try again though because the attempt gave me some really good ideas, and I want to try them out while they're fresh. I got my first payment from the Shop n Check mystery shopper people. That's exciting. The artificial grass people put down the curbing for our putting green while we were gone and it looks pretty neat.

For Valentine's Day I made Ben a fancy dinner of steak and baked potatoes, steamed green beans, and strawberry shortcake. I even did an appetizer of motzarella sticks. That same day, I pulled the shower pipe right out of the wall... I either don't know my own strength, or the plumbing in this house is just not up to snuff. Anyway, I get to play plumber this weekend and fix that.

That's kind of all that's been going on with me. I'm pretty much still on a Disney high. Next time I'm going to kid nap one of the Matterhorn Abominable Snowmen and bring him home with me.

I've just had a posting lag.

Things with me have been going fine. I seem to be pretty tired lately, but luckily only in the evenings, when I can just go to bed. Guess I'm just having full days.

I got pretty flowers for Valentine's Day. White tulips and purple irises. Very nice.

Here's another embarrassing confession to go with my sexy vampire fascination confession: I've always loved Valentine's Day. Even before I'd ever even had a boyfriend and was a bitter lonely teen. It's just fun. But I love just about every holiday. I'm thinking about celebrating president's day this year. Not sure how... cherry pie? :)

I'm not sure what I'll give Ben for v-day. He requested no presents, but I think I'll at least bake him something nice. Maybe another cake. I'll bake it tomorrow, and the he can take it to work with him on Tuesday.

Last week I finished writing the pattern for the felted purse and redid my site and it's for sale now. I'm glad about that. Maybe I'll have some buyers. I did sell some of the scarf pattern, so that's cool.

I'm supposed to be working on my crochet olympics challenge, but I forgot about it and haven't gotten a chance to get it out since I remembered. I'll be crazy lucky if I actually get it finished.
